1. Who we are

This Privacy Notice explains how HookViral ("HookViral", "we", "us", or "our") collects and processes your personal data when you use the HookViral website and service (the "Service"). HookViral acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with your account and use of the Service.

2. Personal data we collect

• Account data: name, email address, login credentials, authentication identifiers (e.g. Google sign-in identifiers).
• Profile & usage data: the prompts you submit, hooks you generate, plan/subscription status, settings.
• Support data: messages and attachments you send to us.
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser identifiers, log files, telemetry, basic analytics events (e.g. portal open success/failure).
• Cookies & similar: see "Cookies" below.

Payment data (card details, billing address, tax IDs) is collected and processed directly by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle, and is not stored by us.

3. How and why we use your data

• Provide the Service — create and manage your account, generate hooks, deliver outputs, manage subscriptions and entitlements. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• Customer support — respond to your questions and resolve issues. Legal basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
• Security & fraud prevention — detect abuse, prevent unauthorized access, enforce our Terms. Legal basis: legitimate interests and legal obligations.
• Product improvement & analytics — understand aggregate usage and improve features. Legal basis: legitimate interests (or consent where required for analytics cookies).
• Marketing — only where you have opted in or where permitted by law for similar products. You can opt out at any time.
• Legal & compliance — meet legal obligations, respond to lawful requests. Legal basis: legal obligation.

4. Who we share data with

• Paddle — our online reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle handles checkout, payments, subscription management, tax compliance, invoicing, refunds, and related buyer support. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
• Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, authentication, AI model providers, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tooling, acting on our instructions under appropriate contracts.
• Professional advisers — lawyers, accountants, and auditors where reasonably necessary.
• Authorities — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to safeguards.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

6. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Account and content data is typically retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Billing records held by Paddle are retained per their policies and applicable tax law.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict or object to certain processing; data portability; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We aim to respond within one month.

8. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is 100% secure; please notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences, and (with your consent) analytics cookies to understand product usage. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can manage your choices at any time via the cookie banner or our Cookie Policy.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age required by law in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes

We may update this Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or by email.
