Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 7, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how HookViral uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies") on hookviral.app and our related services (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Notice.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. We also use similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage to store small pieces of data in your browser. We treat all of these the same way for the purposes of this policy.
2. The cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
These are required for the Service to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, stay signed in, or use core features. They cannot be switched off.
- Authentication — keep you signed in (Supabase auth session tokens).
- Security — protect against CSRF and abuse.
- Preferences — remember UI choices like cookie consent and theme.
- Payment session — enable secure checkout via Paddle.
2.2 Analytics (optional — consent required)
Analytics cookies help us understand how creators use HookViral so we can improve features, performance, and reliability. Data is aggregated and we do not use it for advertising. Analytics only run if you accept them — they are off by default.
- Product analytics — anonymous events (e.g. page views, button clicks, feature usage) and approximate device/browser info.
- Performance monitoring — error and latency tracking to diagnose bugs.
2.3 Advertising / marketing
We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Third parties that may set cookies
- Paddle — our reseller and Merchant of Record, sets cookies during checkout and to prevent payment fraud. See Paddle's Cookie Policy.
- Supabase — our backend provider, sets authentication and session cookies on our behalf.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google, Google may set cookies as part of the OAuth flow.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie choices at any time. Use the button below to reopen the consent panel and update analytics consent.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that turning off strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and other core functionality.
5. Retention
Most strictly necessary cookies expire when you close your browser or sign out. Authentication tokens are refreshed periodically. Your cookie consent choice is stored for up to 12 months, after which we will ask you again.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version.
